Predicted Arsenal line-up vs Newcastle, Partey and Martinelli return
|Arsenal travel to St James’ Park for today’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United.
The Gunners are currently four points behind Manchester City in the race for the top spot and they face a must-win situation on Tyneside to keep up with the reigning champions.
It won’t be easy with the Magpies in stellar run of form. Ahead of the game, Arsenal have received a big boost with Gabriel Magalhaes fit to feature after recovering from a knock to his ankle.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Aaron Ramsdale was denied another clean sheet against Chelsea after a loss of concentration from the Gunners backline. He will be desperate to not concede against the Magpies this afternoon.
In front of him, it should be the same back four. Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko are expected to start in the right and left-back roles. The fit again Gabriel should partner Jakub Kiwior in central defence.
Jorginho had a tidy performance against his former employers in midweek but he could drop to the bench today. Thomas Partey should be picked to handle the physical battle with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes.
Granit Xhaka was splendid against the Blues with two assists for Martin Odegaard. He is guaranteed to start in the number eight role.
Further forward, Bukayo Saka has not been playing at his best lately but he remains an undisputed starter on the right wing.
Leandro Trossard did not have much of an influence on the opposite flank in the recent London derby. The Belgian should make way for Gabriel Martinelli, who is Arsenal’s top-scorer this term with 15 goals.
Martin Odegaard is obviously expected to feature in the number 10 position. The Norwegian star has been phenomenal in the top-flight this season with 14 goals and eight assists from 33 appearances.
Up front, Gabriel Jesus is on course to start. The Brazilian has five league goals since his injury comeback. Overall, he has 16 goal contributions in the league and will be aiming to add to that tally.
