Aaron Ramsdale pens new deal with Arsenal

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with the club.

Ramsdale has been one of many standout performers at the Emirates Stadium over the last nine months en route to Arsenal’s impressive season which sees them sit second in the Premier League standings.

Apart from winning the Save of the Month award for each of the last two months, the 25-year-old has also recorded 13 clean sheets in 36 Premier League matches with only David de Gea and Alisson racking up more.

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal have now rewarded their shot-stopper with a contract extension despite still having two years on his previous deal.

Reflecting on his new deal, Ramsdale was pleased to see his hard work finally pay off and is looking forward to spending the next few years in North London.

“It’s a huge amount of pride, it’s something you work for,” Ramsdale told Arsenal’s official website.

“It doesn’t matter if you’ve been at the club for a month or for four years, you always want to get the next one and push on with the team – to get it after two years, I’m buzzing.

“It just means I can concentrate and keep my head down, and hopefully, after a few more years I’ll get another one and carry on living the dream at the football club.”

Having now sorted out Ramsdale’s future, Arsenal are expected to tie Bukayo Saka down to a new deal in the coming weeks as they prepare for a return to the Champions League.

Saka is set to be rewarded for a splendid individual campaign as he is one of only two Premier League players to reach double figures for goals and assists.

The Englishman has been nominated for the Young Player of the Season award alongside teammates Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli.
