Arsenal pushing to sign three Premier League stars
|Arsenal are pushing to sign three Premier League stars this summer, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
The north London giants have had an impressive season under manager Mikel Arteta and they are set to return to the Champions League after a prolonged six-year wait.
Hence, Arteta should be backed with plenty of funds and Ornstein reports that the club could pursue three Premier League stars.
Granit Xhaka is currently in advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a transfer and Ornstein claims that Arteta wants to land Ilkay Gundogan as his replacement on a free.
Meanwhile, it is added that the Gunners are also pushing to sign Declan Rice and Mason Mount this summer.
Arsenal preparing for big summer rebuild
The Gunners have made good progress in the Premier League this season but they will be deeply disappointed after squandering a healthy five-point lead in the title pursuit.
The lack of quality depth has cost the club in the title race and Arteta will want to add more quality to the squad this summer.
Gundogan could be seen as a like-for-like replacement for Xhaka in the upcoming transfer window but Arsenal may need to ward off competition from Barcelona to land him.
Meanwhile, Rice would be an upgrade for the number six role in our opinion but Arteta could also utilise him from the central midfield role with his desire to push forward regularly.
Mount would be another intelligent piece of business. The England star has had a forgettable 2022/23 season but he has been one of Chelsea’s best players over the last four years.
The Blues graduate would provide the much-needed competition behind Martin Odegaard. He is also capable of playing from out wide or from the number eight position if required.

I wouldn’t say this is a rebuild. Rebuilds are knocking it down and starting again. The system is built, the foundations are in place… now we’re just redecorating!
