Arsenal readying new Moises Caicedo bid

Arsenal are preparing a renewed offer to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, London World report.

The Gunners were determined to land the Ecuador international in the January transfer window, but the Seagulls were adamant that he was not for sale at any price.

Caicedo went on to sign a new long-term deal with the South Coast outfit, but he is still expected to leave the club when the transfer window reopens this summer.

As per Charlie Haffenden & Chris Wheatley, Mikel Arteta’s side are prepared to make a bid similar to the £75 million package that was rejected by Brighton in January.

The Seagulls have an agreement with the player to let him go for a substantial offer, and Arsenal will be hoping to prise him away ahead of their Premier League rivals.

Arsenal could make huge statement with Caicedo deal

The Gunners currently have West Ham United’s Declan Rice as their priority midfield target. It has been reported that they are close to finalising a record deal for him.

Despite this, the club are still interested in landing Caicedo from the Seagulls. It provides a big hint that Arteta is preparing for a new-look midfield ahead of next season.

Granit Xhaka is apparently on his way to Bayer Leverkusen, and there could be doubts over Thomas Partey’s future too if Arsenal sign both Rice and Caicedo this summer.

Partey found himself behind Jorginho in the pecking order during the final weeks of last season, and it remains to be seen whether he would be content with a back-up role.

Both Rice and Caicedo have a similar profile. They possess good distribution skills with an accuracy of nearly 90 per cent last term.

The former is better with his progressive actions and defensive involvements, but Caicedo excels in making key passes. He managed (49) more than twice the number as Rice (22).

The duo could be the perfect foil at the heart of Arsenal’s midfield. It would be a huge statement from the Gunners if they can land both players in the upcoming transfer window.
