‘Advancing quickly’: Arsenal moving closer to signing Kai Havertz
|
Arsenal are moving closer to signing Chelsea forward Kai Havertz with Bayern Munich no longer in the race, The Telegraph report.
The Gunners made an opening bid for Havertz this week, but their offer was rejected. They are preparing a fresh proposal, and it is claimed that talks are ‘advancing quickly’.
It was recently reported that Bayern could offer competition for the forward, but the Bundesliga champions now expect the 24-year-old to continue in the Premier League next term.
Havertz looks likely to join Arsenal
Arsenal’s interest in Havertz came out of the blue, but the Gunners’ hierarchy are now pushing to secure his services.
The Blues currently value the Germany international at around £70 million, but the Gunners are optimistic that they can finalise an agreement for a fee in the region of £60m.
Chelsea have yet to lower their demands for the former Bayer Leverkusen man, but they should reduce their valuation soon. The Blues are desperate for player sales before June 30.
The west Londoners need to include profits from departures in their financial accounts for 2022/23 such that they can avoid potential Financial Fair Play sanctions in future.
Hence, it may not be long before Arsenal receive the green light to sign the versatile star
Havertz has the ability to play in multiple positions. He has predominantly operated in the attacking roles at Chelsea, but Arsenal could prefer him in a more deeper role next term.
The German has good vision with the ball at his feet, and has the ability to provide through balls for his teammates.
He also has the knack of getting into terrific goalscoring positions, though he has missed several big chances.
If Havertz can regain his form and confidence, he could emerge as another regular goal contributor for Arsenal.
