Jorginho’s agent breaks silence on Lazio speculation
|
Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos has dismissed the ongoing speculation linking the Arsenal midfielder with a move to Lazio.
The Italy international joined the Gunners from Chelsea during the last transfer window, and he was impressive in his limited minutes during the back end of the campaign.
Of late, there have been claims that Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri wants to reunite with Jorginho after their together at Chelsea, but Santos has put cold water to the rumours.
Speaking exclusively to TV Play in Italy, Santos said that Jorginho is very happy at Arsenal and plans to stay next season. He added that there are no negotiations with Lazio.
He said: “It’s not about the interest of Lazio or their budget. I can confirm that Jorginho is very happy at Arsenal. In our plans it’s only Arsenal for next season. No negotiations with Lazio.”
Jorginho remains a useful squad player
The Italian made 16 appearances for the Gunners in the second half of the season, out of which 11 came from the starting XI.
The 31-year-old was pretty good in the majority of those games. He had a pass accuracy of nearly 88 per cent.
Jorginho also excelled with his ability to win key duels. He managed to impress some of the club’s faithful.
Hence, there is no reason why the Gunners should contemplate his exit for a potential loss this summer.
It is well known that Granit Xhaka will leave the club soon, and Thomas Partey could follow him as well.
The Gunners could compensate their departures with two marquee signings, but Jorginho will have a part to play.
Arsenal need quality depth in the squad for another possible title challenge. Jorginho would be useful in rotation.
Despite being 31, he is better suited for Arsenal’s playing style than Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga.
