West Ham still have reservations around structure of latest Arsenal bid for Declan Rice

West Ham United still have reservations around the structure of the latest bid from Arsenal for Declan Rice, reports BBC journalist Simon Stone.

However, things are looking better with the North London club confident of their chances of landing the England international midfielder.

Arsenal have tabled a club-record bid of £100 million plus £5m in add-ons to sign the 24-year-old.

It is their third bid for the West Ham star after Manchester City joined them in his pursuit.

Their first offer was £60m plus £15m in add-ons, which was followed by a bid of £75m plus £15m in add-ons.

West Ham were unimpressed with the structure as Arsenal wanted to spread the £75m payment over five years.

The Hammers were also unhappy with what they deemed a series of unrealistic add-ons included in the deal.

While the Gunners are now offering to pay £100m up front for Rice, they are yet to impress West Ham with the structure and both clubs are expected to continue talks.

It remains to be seen whether Man City will table a second bid for the Hammers captain, but Arsenal are desperate to pip the Premier League champions to his services.

They will need to improve their terms as Pep Guardiola’s side have the wherewithal to blow them out of the water financially.

West Ham are ready to get the best deal for their most-prized asset, and Man City returning with another bid could see them demand more than £105m from suitors for Rice.
