West Ham United want Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares
|West Ham United are interested in signing Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares this summer, reports inews.
The Portugal under-21 international spent last season on loan with Marseille, ending his Ligue 1 stint with six goals in 31 appearances.
The manager of the French club Igor Tudor was full of praise for the Arsenal left-back, claiming at a point that he was “good enough to play for Barcelona”.
The North London club want to sell Tavares, and the Europa Conference League winners have joined Turkish Super Lig club Galatasaray and some Premier League clubs in his pursuit.
The 23-year-old has two years left on his Arsenal deal and is available for around £8 million.
He joined the Gunners in 2021 from Benfica, playing 22 league games and six more across other competitions.
Despite his attacking prowess and abilities, the Gunners are not in need of additions at left-back and will gladly sell Tavares.
Arsenal have Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney all available in the position.
Tavares is not the only player Arsenal want to sell this summer, with the likes of Rob Holding, Folarin Balogun, Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Cedric Soares and Nicolas Pepe all likely to be sold.
Manager Mikel Arteta is making much-needed changes to his squad ahead of another title challenge next term.
Arsenal have already announced the signing of Germany international attacker Kai Havertz from Chelsea, with a deal for England international midfielder Declan Rice expected to be wrapped up soon.
They are also looking to strengthen at the back and are closing in on a deal for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.
