Arsenal have RB Leipzig defender Benjamin Henrichs on their radar

Arsenal are interested in RB Leipzig defender Benjamin Henrichs, according to Kicker.

The Gunners have had Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo on their radar for a while, and the Portuguese is expected to leave the Premier League champions after falling out with manager Pep Guardiola.

Bayern Munich opted against the option of signing him for €70 million after his six-month loan spell ended last month, giving Arsenal and his other suitors a chance to land him.

Cancelo won both the Bundesliga and Premier League last term, but the Gunners may need to pay top dollar to land him.

Arsenal have other alternatives in mind, with the already-linked Galatasaray’s Sacha Boey and Henrichs options.

The Leipzig ace was in fine form as his side retained the DFB-Pokal last term.

Henrichs scored four times and weighed in with three assists in 44 games across all competitions, and his versatility will benefit Arsenal.

The Germany international, 26, can play as a right-back, left-back and defensive midfielder, and Gunners manager Mikel Arteta could do with his services.

His passing, finishing, tackling and defensive contribution are very solid, and he is also excellent when it comes to holding on to the ball and intercepting passes.

However, whether Arsenal want to sign another full-back this summer remains to be seen.

They are already closing in on a deal for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, with a medical and official announcement for the Netherlands international expected to take place this week.
