Blow for Arsenal as Gary O’Driscoll agrees to join Man Utd

Arsenal have been handed a big blow with Gary O’Driscoll set to join Manchester United, The Athletic report.

O’Driscoll is currently the head of medical services at Arsenal. The highly-talented doctor has been with the club since February 2009, and his impending departure should surprise many fans.

The 52-year-old, who was born in the north-west, was tempted to join Liverpool back in 2020, but Arsenal managed to persuade him to continue in his role with the first-team squad.

However, they have been unable to stop him this time. The Athletic claim that the Red Devils’ proposal has been too good to refuse and O’Driscoll will join them due to family reasons.

O’Driscoll has been a popular member with the players over the years and as things stand, he is conducting a series of medical tests on Jurrien Timber ahead of his transfer from Ajax.

The Gunners are expected to keep O’Driscoll in the job until later this summer to allow him to integrate a successor.

Arsenal face untimely staff exits before pre-season friendlies

It was recently confirmed by sporting director Edu Gaspar that assistant Steve Round has mutually left the club.

Round has been a key member of Mikel Arteta’s backroom staff and his untimely departure comes as a surprise.

In our opinion, he may reunite with West Ham boss David Moyes, having worked with him for many years.

O’Driscoll’s exit is another shock for us. He has had a wonderful relationship with the club and the fans.

He has shown the willingness to provide updates when asked by supporters outside the stadium.

After becoming a popular member at Arsenal, some fans won’t be pleased with his move to rivals United.
