View: Vinai Venkatesham suggests Arsenal are done with transfers after recruiting for the three positions they wanted to strengthen

Arsenal have completed the signings of three players this summer, spending over £200 million.

While they have been linked with making more additions to the squad, the club’s Chief Executive Officer Vinai Venkatesham has suggested they could be done with transfers this summer.

England international midfielder Declan Rice joined from West Ham United in a £105m deal, Germany international attacker Kai Havertz was signed from Chelsea for £65m while the Netherlands international defender Jurrien Timber joined from Ajax for £38m.

Arsenal have strengthened their attack, midfield and defence, and they are reportedly eyeing a right winger and another midfielder.

However, Venkatesham says the three positions are the ones they always wanted to strengthen and that they have gotten their number 1 targets for them.

“What we have done this summer is supplement that fantastic squad with three new signings,” the Arsenal CEO told Bloomberg.

“The three positions we wanted to strengthen, the three players we wanted and we were delighted to get them right at the start of the window.

“So we have them with us here on tour in the US and it means they can assimilate in the squad, and it was a heavy significant investment.”

Manager Mikel Arteta always wanted to get his transfer business done early in order to quickly bed in the new players, and he has gotten his wish.

Arsenal have splashed the cash and with just three weeks away from their Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest, they are unlikely to be looking to make any more additions.

Nothing can be ruled out, and one or two players could still end up joining the squad, but it would not be surprising if no further additions are made to the team going by Venkatesham’s comments.
