Fabrizio Romano shares update as Chelsea join Arsenal in pursuit of Ajax ace Mohammed Kudus

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on his YouTube channel as Chelsea join Arsenal in the race for Ajax attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus.

The Gunners are keeping tabs on the Ghana international as manager Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his frontline.

However, they face competition from the Blues who have made contact with the Eredivisie club and expressed interest in signing him.

While they are yet to table a bid, talks have taken place and Chelsea are close to agreeing personal terms with Kudus.

Arsenal could miss out on the Ajax ace after Romano revealed that they are also yet to bid for him after reaching out to the Dutch club a fortnight ago.

“Arsenal made some calls, it was two weeks ago when Arsenal called to be informed about the Kudus situation, but they never made any bid,” the Italian journalist said.

“Same for Chelsea, no bids at all at the moment. So we have to wait and see what happens with Kudus.”

The North London club signed Jurrien Timber from Ajax earlier this month and both clubs have a good working relationship.

However, it does not guarantee that they will get Kudus with Chelsea already making concrete moves.

Arsenal would love to add a right winger to their ranks and the youngster fits the bill.

He grabbed two goals at the World Cup in Qatar and was a constant thorn in the side of opposition defences in the Dutch top-flight last term, finishing the campaign with 18 goals and seven assists in 42 games.

Kudus has already told Ajax he wants to move on this summer, and while he is valued at around ÂŁ40 million, he could be available for less and this is a deal the Gunners should be all over.
