Arsenal agree personal terms with David Raya
|Arsenal have reached an agreement with David Raya over personal terms ahead of a proposed move to the Emirates Stadium, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Raya is largely expected to leave Brentford this summer with Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich having all shown interest in him at some point.
However, it is Arsenal who are now the likeliest destination for Raya following Bayern’s failed attempt at securing an initial loan move for the goalkeeper.
Prior to Aaron Ramsdale’s arrival in 2021, Mikel Arteta was keen to sign Raya but Brentford’s promotion to the top flight saw him stay put in west London.
Brentford are demanding a fee north of £30 million to part ways with Raya and the Spaniard is wary of being priced out of a move away heading into the final year of his contract
“I know there are rumours about me leaving,” Raya told The Times.
“There are some options for me to go but obviously Brentford are asking for a lot of money.
“That could make clubs not want to buy me, it could make them look somewhere else but if that’s the value they give me then it’s up to them.
“I have a year left on my contract and until then I’m a Brentford player, there’s nothing I can do.”
After agreeing personal terms with Raya, Arsenal are expected to accelerate talks with Brentford in the coming days as they aim to wrap up a fourth summer signing.
The Gunners are currently preparing for their final pre-season outing against Monaco tomorrow before taking on Manchester City in Sunday’s Community Shield encounter.
