Auston Trusty missing from Arsenal training amid interest from Sheffield United

Arsenal have released some pictures from Tuesday’s training at the club’s London Colney training base ahead of the Emirates Cup game vs Monaco on Wednesday.

Some players were not spotted during the session, with injury absentees Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Folarin Balogun nowhere to be seen.

Cedric Soares, Nuno Tavares and Nicolas Pepe were also not spotted, with the trio expected to leave Arsenal this summer having not featured for Mikel Arteta’s side last term.

Another player who was not seen in the pictures uploaded is United States international centre-back Auston Trusty.

While it could be that he was at London Colney but just not pictured by the club’s photographer, the fact that Charlie Patino, who is also expected to leave, was seen means that the chances that Trusty might have missed training entirely are very high.

The 24-year-old featured against MLS All-Stars but was not involved in the games against Manchester United and Barcelona, and it appears he will not be tasting action against Monaco.

Sheffield United want Trusty and it appears Arsenal are not willing to risk his fitness ahead of an expected exit.

He joined the Gunners from Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids in January 2022, remaining on loan with the club until July before moving to England and immediately joining Birmingham City on loan for 2022-23.

While he emerged as the club’s Player of the Season, Trusty is not in Arsenal’s plans for the season and a move to the Blades would do his development the world of good.
