Gary Neville predicts Arsenal will win the Premier League

Over the weekend, Arsenal climbed a significant hurdle by proving to the world that they can beat Manchester City. In front of 81,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, the Gunners lifted the Community Shield and put the rest of the league on notice.

Even though this matchup was classed as a friendly, the result will do wonders for this young Arsenal squad’s confidence as they look to build on last season’s title charge. Such is the optimism around the club that they’re now apparently turning critics into fans.

Mind games or a realisation of the inevitable truth? Who knows, but Arsenal’s most famous critic has gone on record to say the Premier League is Mikel Arteta’s side to lose. After spending the whole of last season lambasting the Gunners, Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, has finally changed his tune.

Despite often criticising the Gunners for their lack of leaders and experience, Neville believes the business Edu & co. have done this summer is enough to take them over the line.

On the latest edition of The Overlap, the Sky Sports Pundit said: “I don’t think Arsenal could have done any more to close the gap.”

“They have shown real intent with the signings they have made. My concern is that they are the only team I look at and are the only team that I think could win the league.” 

“With the three signings they have made they are going to be better…just because of the three thing and never winning a fourth, I am going to go Arsenal to win the league, City second. I think Arsenal can beat them.”

Arsenal fans will not be used to this kind of positivity coming from Sky Sports, especially Gary Neville. Regardless, the supporters should take this with a pinch of salt, as we know the pundit’s opinions can change like the wind.
