Report’s bizarre claim that Tottenham want Arsenal star Folarin Balogun is utter rubbish – opinion
|A report claiming that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign talented young Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun this summer is surely utter rubbish.
According to a report from Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal hitman Folarin Balogun is one striker who is on Tottenham’s Harry Kane replacement list.
The Italian media outlet claim that the Gunners are demanding €55 million for Balogun, and with Spurs flush with cash following the sale of Kane, they could swoop in to sign the 22-year-old striker.
I’m fairly certain that the USMNT forward will leave the Emirates this summer. That’s a real shame because he’s a supremely talented young striker with all of the attributes needed to succeed at the highest level of the game.
However, he’s clearly third in Mikel Arteta’s centre-forward pecking order at Arsenal behind Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. So an exit from the Emirates almost feels like a guarantee for Balogun this summer.
It has to be said though, there’s one club that he definitely won’t be joining…
Report’s bizarre claim that Tottenham want Arsenal star Folarin Balogun is utter rubbish
The Italian report claiming that Balogun could join the Gunners’ bitter rivals Spurs this summer is undoubtedly absolutely false. There is simply no way that Arsenal would sell a brilliant young talent to them.
The American has the ability needed to go on and be a superstar of the game. I would actually like Arteta to keep him at the club, but he needs to be playing regular football now. So allowing him to leave will be the correct decision from the Arsenal manager.
However, selling him to Tottenham would be a real no-go, and anyone with any sense would know that this transfer will not be happening this summer. The Gunners will try to sell him to a foreign club, and if that doesn’t work out a Premier League club who aren’t a direct rival.
I’m not sure where Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun will end up this summer. I can tell you what club he won’t be joining though, and that’s Tottenham Hotspur.
