David Raya already in Arsenal training before official announcement
|Spain international goalkeeper David Raya has been pictured in training in the Arsenal kit ahead of an expected official announcement in the coming hours.
His agent took to Instagram to share a picture of the former Brentford star at London Colney.
While it has not been announced, Raya, 27, has joined Arsenal on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent.
The North London club are paying £3 million to sign the Spaniard on loan and will sign him permanently next summer for an additional £27m if they decide to activate the option.
Raya is in the final 12 months of his contract with the Bees and has extended it ahead of his move to Arsenal.
He bid farewell to staff at Brentford’s Jersey Road training ground last Wednesday, with his Arsenal medical done on Thursday.
Raya will offer Aaron Ramsdale fierce competition for the starting berth, and the England international will be kept on his toes going forward.
Arsenal have sold Matt Turner to Nottingham Forest after just a season, and the United States international made his Premier League debut against his old club on Saturday.
The Gunners started the new campaign with a 2-1 victory and will look to maintain a winning run for as long as possible.
They face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday and manager Mikel Arteta will hope his men can put in a better performance after Nottingham Forest came close to drawing level last time out.
Raya is Arsenal’s fourth signing of the summer following the earlier arrivals of Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice.
However, they could be forced to make another signing after the Netherlands international full-back picked up a knee injury which could rule him out of action for a few months.
