Arsenal lining up move to sign ‘incredible’ Perr Schurrs before D-day

Perr Schuurs is a reported transfer target for Arsenal this summer.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool are all showing interest in signing the 23-year-old Torino centre-back in the summer transfer window.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta may well be on the look-out for a new central defender this summer, with Gabriel being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

If the Brazilian leaves the Emirates, a new centre-back will come in – an elite defender no doubt. So with that in mind, it’s somewhat of a surprise to see a fairly unheralded name now being linked with Arsenal…

TMW reckon that the Gunners could be set to battle it out with a whole host of other clubs for the Torino defender’s signature this summer.

Whilst he is a very good player, it surprises me that Arteta isn’t targeting a truly top-class centre-back as a potential Gabriel replacement – and a left-footed one at that.

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Schuurs is strong in the air, tenacious in the tackle and reads the game very well for some so young.

However, he isn’t the quickest along the ground and struggles sometimes with the ball at his feet. That said, the Dutchman is very highly-rated in his homeland…

Voetbal Primeur have labelled the Torino centre-back as ‘incredible’, and I think he’d be a decent signing for Arsenal this summer.

However, there are a lot better centre-backs out there available, including the likes of Marc Guehi, Piero Hincapie and Goncalo Ignacio.

It remains to be seen just how ambitious Arsenal boss Arteta is during the remaining week of the transfer window.
