Chelsea eyeing potential move for Arsenal attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe

Is England callup around the corner for Emile Smith Rowe?

Arsenal forward Emile Smith Rowe is on the radar of Chelsea as the Blues consider bolstering their attack in the coming days, according to the Daily Mail.

However, their interest in the 23-year-old is not particularly advanced and he is currently being discussed by the Chelsea hierarchy.

Smith Rowe is yet to play in the Premier League this campaign, only coming on for the final three minutes against Manchester City in the Community Shield.

The Arsenal academy graduate made all his 14 appearances across all competitions last term off the bench, weighing in with two assists.

He is likely to struggle for regular minutes this term and may have to wait until the second half of the season before he can start seeing playing opportunities.

Chelsea have been splashing the cash since American billionaire Todd Boehly took over and they will not hesitate to make a move for Smith Rowe if manager Mauricio Pochettino approves.

The Argentine has a track record of improving youngsters, and the Arsenal winger could be tempted to join the Stamford Bridge club if he is guaranteed playing chances.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is unlikely to be willing to lose the England youth international as he needs such a player on the bench.

Injuries, suspensions and fatigue are unavoidable, and Smith Rowe is a quality and reliable option to beckon upon if any of the current attacking midfielders in the starting XI becomes unavailable or start struggling for form.

He was on the bench against Fulham, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest but did not come on and could start getting frustrated if nothing changes anytime soon.

Chelsea could be willing to offer him an opportunity despite the plethora of options they have in attack, and it will be interesting to see if they launch a concrete bid before Friday’s deadline.
