View: Gabriel Magalhaes confirms Arsenal stay with social media post

Gabriel Magalhaes is yet to start a Premier League game for Arsenal this season, coming off the bench against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian centre-back was not involved in the 2-2 draw against Fulham and reports emerged last week that the Gunners would consider selling him if an upgrade could be found.

Gabriel was first linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League before news emerged that Real Madrid wanted him following a long-term injury to Eder Militao.

The Arsenal defender is undoubtedly frustrated with being on the bench for the opening three league games, but it appears he has no plans to leave the club going by his latest social media post.

Gabriel took to Instagram today to claim that he is ‘ready to write a new story’, and while the caption could have confused some fans, the defender was posting in reference to the Champions League as he can be seen holding the ball for the season.

The Gunners are returning to the elite European competition for the first time since 2017, and the 25-year-old is looking forward to featuring in it.

Arsenal spent 17 consecutive campaigns competing for UEFA’s ultimate prize before failing to qualify since 2018 and will be raring to go this term.

Gabriel will be hoping to return to the starting XI when Mikel Arteta’s side host Manchester United at Emirates Stadium on Sunday for the last game before the international break.

His failure to see much action so far this term has already raised eyebrows, and missing out this weekend again would be worrying.

While the European transfer window closes on Friday night, the Saudis will continue trading until next month and could make a move for Gabriel if he remains out of favour.
