Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale impresses England players with piece of skill in training
|Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has impressed his England international teammates with his ball-playing skills during a training session.
The Three Lions uploaded a clip of the Gunners star brilliantly controlling a pass from Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford on their X account.
The Red Devils star and others around were blown away with what they saw from Ramsdale, and the former Bournemouth goalie will hope he can convince manager Gareth Southgate to hand him a playing opportunity during the international break.
England play Ukraine in their European Championship qualifier on Saturday before returning to action on Tuesday with a friendly with Scotland in Glasgow, and the Arsenal man will be looking to add to his three international caps.
Ramsdale has been the first-choice at the North London club since joining in 2021 but now faces stiff competition for his berth from summer loan signing David Raya.
According to the Daily Mail, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has been impressed with the performance of the Brentford goalie in training and is weighing up handing the Spain international a prolonged first-team chance.
The ability of the Spaniard to accurately play out from defence has blown the minds of Arteta and the coaches, but Ramsdale has sent a reminder to everyone with his skills on international duty.
Raya could be thrown into action soon or be made to wait until the Carabao Cup against Brentford on September 27 for his debut.
While Premier League regulations would usually prohibit him from playing against the Bees, loan players can play against their parent club in the Carabao Cup provided they get permission, and it is understood Brentford are unlikely to oppose his inclusion.
Ramsdale made the PFA Team of the Year for his heroics in goal last term and also picked up the London Football Awards Goalkeeper of the Year prize.
He remains a top goalie and has not put a foot wrong so far this term, but he is sweating on his starting berth with Raya currently breathing down his neck.
