Meanwhile, we take a closer look at how the Gunners fared on the international stage, with several stars hugging the spotlight while on duty with their respective national teams.
How Arsenal players got on in the EURO 2024 qualifiers
Martin Odegaard
Martin Odegaard starred for Norway in their comfortable triumph over Georgia, bagging the second goal as The Lions roared to a 2-1 victory.
The Gunners skipper drilled home his effort from the edge of the box, but his all-round performance helped Stale Solbakken’s side keep their qualification hopes alive.
Odegaard registered 106 touches, emphasizing his influence in the game while completing an impressive 9/9 attempted long passes.
The 24-year-old also completed 5/7 attempted dribbles and won 10/21 ground duels with an additional three tackles to show for his efforts.
Leandro Trossard
Leandro Trossard made the starting line-up in Belgium’s 1-0 victory over Azerbaijan and will be kicking himself for not getting on the score sheet after smashing the woodwork.
The 28-year-old made up for his profligacy in the subsequent outing against Estonia, netting the second goal as Roberto Martinez’s side raced to a 5-0 victory to maintain their unbeaten record in Group F.
Unlike the clash against Azerbaijan, Trossard was deployed in his more accustomed forward role and completed 2/2 dribbles while contributing two key passes.
Karl Hein
While conceding ten goals during the international break further complicates his chances of earning recognition from Arteta, Karl Hein was one of the better performers for Estonia in the qualifiers.
The 21-year-old tallied five saves and 52% pass accuracy. He completed 8/22 attempted long passes but was powerless to stop Sweden from recording an emphatic 5-0 victory.
Hein was on the wrong end of an identical scoreline in the subsequent fixture against Belgium, with Arsenal teammate Trossard getting in on the action.
Kai Havertz
After failing to impact the scoreline in the 4-1 friendly defeat against Japan, Havertz was relegated to the bench in the subsequent fixture against France.
Perhaps losing his place in the starting XI was the wake-up call the former Chelsea man needed as he helped Die Mannschaft secure a morale-boosting victory following his introduction in the 64th minute.
Havertz set up Bayern Munich counterpart Leroy Sane for what proved to be the winning goal and will hope to improve his club woes when Arsenal take on Everton in Sunday’s Premier League action.
William Saliba
Having been reduced to a 17-minute cameo appearance in the 2-0 qualifier victory over the Republic of Ireland, William Saliba lasted 90 minutes in the friendly defeat to Germany.
His performance at Signal Iduna Park was less than spectacular, winning just one of his three ground duels against the three-time European champions.
Saliba also failed to win any of his aerial duels and lost possession three times, although he managed one clearance and recorded a 96% pass accuracy, completing 3/4 attempted long passes.
Gabriel Magalhaes
Unlike his defensive partner, Gabriel Magalhaes was one of the star performers for Brazil in their CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying fixtures against Bolivia and Peru.
Although he failed to keep a clean sheet in the 5-1 triumph over Peru, the 25-year-old stood firm to repel Peru and earn a clean sheet as centre-back partner Marquinhos snatched a 1-0 victory for Brazil.
Gabriel has endured a mixed start to the Premier League campaign, but made his first start of the season in the success over Man United and will hope to keep his place in the starting line-up this weekend.
Gabriel Jesus
Having just returned from a lengthy injury lay-off, Gabriel Jesus started both qualifying games for Brazil from the bench but impressed in his cameo appearances.
The 26-year-old has already opened his goalscoring account for the Gunners and is likely to reclaim his starting berth when for the trip to Everton with Eddie Nketiah relegated to the bench.
Aaron Ramsdale
Having been forced to watch most of the qualifier action from the bench, Aaron Ramsdale was finally handed a starting berth in the 3-1 friendly victory over England’s old foes Scotland.
Despite failing to keep a clean sheet, the 25-year-old had precious little to do between the sticks courtesy of England’s dominance as the Scots failed to muster a shot on target.
Bukayo Saka
Bukayo Saka was one of the better performers for England in their 1-1 qualifier draw against Ukraine, marking the end of their perfect record in Group C.
Despite being one of the top-rated players in the clash, the Arsenal superstar will feel he should have done more for the Three Lions after hitting the woodwork.
He was handed a much-needed rest in the victory over Scotland, entering the fray in the 71st minute and should be raring to go for Arsenal’s trip to Everton this weekend.
Declan Rice
With just one clearance and one interception to show for his involvement in the clash against Ukraine, Declan Rice was not at his sparkling best for the Three Lions, and there wasn’t any vivid improvement in his performance against Scotland.
However, the ex-West Ham United skipper has been a value-for-money signing for Arsenal thus far and will hope to continue his exceptional club form against Everton.
Jakub Kiwior
Having started just one Premier League game for the Gunners this season, the international break presented Jakub Kiwior with a platform to stake a claim for a starting berth.
His performances for Poland will undoubtedly give Arteta something to think about, with the 23-year-old helping his country to a win and a defeat in their qualifier fixtures.
Despite Kiwior’s heroics, Poland’s chances of securing a place in next year’s Euro tournament still hang in the balance as they sit fourth in Group E.
Oleksandr Zinchenko
The qualifiers didn’t pan out the way Ukraine would have wanted, but Oleksandr Zinchenko’s performances would have delighted club boss Arteta.
The 26-year-old controlled proceedings from the middle of the park as Ukraine held England to a 1-1 draw but was powerless to stop his side from falling to a 2-1 defeat to Italy.
Takehiro Tomiyasu
Takehiro Tomiyasu was at the heart of Japan’s eye-catching friendly triumph over Germany, putting in an assured performance in the emphatic 4-1 victory.
Deployed at centre-back, the 24-year-old recorded six clearances, and three interceptions, won 2/4 total duels and completed six of his 11 attempted long passes.
Tomiyasu started the subsequent 4-2 victory over Turkey on the bench and was only afforded an 11-minute cameo.
Nketiah and David Raya failed to make appearances for their national teams. They will now switch their attention to the weekend trip to Everton, with Arsenal keen to preserve their unbeaten start to the season.
