Predicted Arsenal line-up vs Tottenham Hotspur
|Arsenal will be eyeing a three-straight Premier League win when they entertain Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.
The Gunners are currently fourth in the standings with 13 points on the board. They can go within two points off leaders Manchester City by winning the north London derby.
The club have a superb record against Spurs at the Emirates, but the visitors can’t be taken lightly with their more attacking approach under manager Ange Postecoglou this term.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
David Raya looks set to start between the sticks for the third game running. The Spaniard got the surprise nod over Aaron Ramsdale in the Everton win and retained the gloves for the 4-0 rout of PSV.
He now appears as Mikel Arteta’s number one for the campaign. Ramsdale has been a mainstay in the line-up for the last two years, but the 24-year-old may have to settle on the bench.
The defence is unlikely to witness any changes. Ben White is assured of his spot at right-back and the same can be said for Oleksandr Zinchenko on the opposite end. William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are Arsenal’s best pairing in central defence and are expected to start.
Similarly, the midfield could stay unchanged with Declan Rice continuing in a more defensive role in the absence of Thomas Partey with an injury. Kai Havertz won more duels than any other Arsenal player in midweek and he was unlucky to not register an assist too. The German should keep his place.
Martin Odegaard has the made the number 10 position his own and he continued the good form versus PSV, scoring the final goal in the 4-0 triumph. The club captain looks set to be flanked by Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard, who registered a goal and an assist apiece versus PSV.
Arteta refused to rule out Gabriel Martinelli’s involvement in the north London derby, but the €80 million-rated star looks likely to miss out with a hamstring injury. He was absent in Friday’s training session.
Up front, Gabriel Jesus has definitely earned his spot after scoring on his return to the starting line-up in midweek. He could have easily had a hat-trick and will be hoping to replicate the performance today.
