View: Door could be open for Arsenal ace to revive future under Arteta, it’s now or never

Mikel Arteta has revealed that the idea of selling Emile Smith Rowe in the summer transfer window didn’t cross his mind at all.

The 23-year-old midfielder has barely played in the past 16 months due to a groin injury, but he is now ready to feature in the league cup clash against Brentford.

Arteta has confirmed that Smith Rowe will get his chance and that he is “incredibly popular” among his teammates and the fans.

Chelsea were reportedly interested in signing the talented midfielder but it appears that Arsenal always wanted him to stay and enjoy a fine career at his boyhood club.

“Yes, he needs to be – a player of that talent, who has come through our system, that is what we want to do,” said Arteta, as quoted by HaytersTV.

“Our best players, and the players with the quality and the talent that they have that they contribute to us to take the club where we want, that’s for sure!”

Smith Rowe is seen as one of the finest talents in the country. He was simply incredible for the Gunners when he first broke into the senior side but has lost his way a bit due to injuries and form.

He is a fantastic midfielder who is an excellent passer of the ball. He is definitely not a traditional winger, rather he is more effective playing in pockets.

Smith Rowe has two years left in his current deal at the club, and one can feel that he needs to step up now to resurrect his career under Arteta.

Being a homegrown talent, Arsenal can make a profit by selling him next summer if he fails to make a significant impact this season.

The Gunners believe that they should be challenging for the title every season and play in the Champions League regularly. The club won’t hesitate to make room for new additions if quality players are available.

At the moment, the club believe that Smith Rowe will be able to justify his potential. It’s now or never for him. He must win back the confidence of his manager, starting with the game on Wednesday.
