Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has been playing with a thigh issue, hamstring strain could keep him out of Manchester City game

Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka is a major doubt for the Gunners’ Premier League game against Manchester City on Sunday and is currently facing a race against time to be fit for it, according to the Telegraph.

The England international was forced off for the third game running during the Champions League defeat to RC Lens on Tuesday, and the North London club have been trying to establish the severity of a suspected hamstring strain he suffered.

Arsenal also want to determine the risk involved in trying to rush Saka back as quickly as possible.

Apart from the strain, the 22-year-old has been playing with a thigh issue for a while, which could make involving him in action against the league leaders further complicated.

Saka limped off in the closing stages of the North London derby, missing some of the training sessions the following week and sitting out of the Carabao Cup win over Brentford.

However, he was passed fit for the trip to Bournemouth, opening the scoring in the 4-0 victory before getting withdrawn in the second-half after limping around for a while.

It appears the situation has worsened as he was pointing to his thigh after going down without anyone around him against Lens.

Arsenal’s medical team are yet to determine the exact issue, but manager Mikel Arteta will be desperate to have him available for the top-of-the-table clash against Man City.

The Gunners are just a point behind Pep Guardiola’s side after seven games and will pull out all the stops to secure victory at Emirates Stadium.

They may have to do that without Saka, but having him available for selection will be a massive boost.
