Ajax youngster Jorrel Hato dreams of Arsenal transfer
|Ajax youngster Jorrel Hato has said that he would like to follow the footsteps of defender Jurrien Timber to join Arsenal in future.
Timber signed for the Gunners from Ajax during last summer’s transfer window and he had an impressive pre-season at the club.
The Dutchman started the curtain-raiser against Nottingham Forest, but unfortunately suffered a serious knee injury in the same game.
Speaking to ELF Voetbal, Hato spoke about the injury for his compatriot and said that Timber has a bright future ahead of him.
He said: “Unfortunately, he was seriously injured in his first Premier League game for Arsenal, but he is still young and has a bright future ahead of him.”
The teenager added that he has the dream of making such a transfer, but admitted that there is a very long way to go for that to happen.
He added: “In any case, the move to Arsenal was a wonderful one for him. It is also my dream to one day make such a transfer, but I realise that I still have a very long way to go.”
Hato has a lot to prove at first-team level
Hato is only 17 years of age, but he has already made 25 senior appearances for Ajax.
This season, he has played the entire 90 minutes in the opening 10 games for them. Hato is a centre-back by trade, but also has the ability to play from the left-back position.
In our view, the left-footed ace still has plenty to prove at the top level. Ajax have had one of their worst starts to the season and are currently in the drop zone in Eredivisie.
They find themselves in uncharted territory at the moment and need a huge turnaround in the coming months in order to have any chance of qualifying for Europe again.
Hato has shown potential with his strong distribution. He has also impressed with his tackling and ball recoveries, but his positioning is a point of weakness. It should improve with age and experience.
