Arsenal regularly tracking Fiorentina wonderkid Michael Kayode

Arsenal are regularly keeping tabs on Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode following his breakthrough into the first-team this season, according to Corriere dello Sport (page 24).

The 19-year-old made his senior debut for the club against Genoa in August and he has since registered another six appearances in all competitions.

His performances have caught the eye of many clubs and it is claimed that there has been a ‘sinister presence’ of Arsenal officials to watch him.

Despite this, La Viola are confident of keeping hold of the youngster. His current contract lasts until June 2025 and there is an option for another 12 months.

The club have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with him to extend his stay until the summer of 2028. Kayode looks set to earn €1 million per year.

Arsenal don’t need another right-back

The Gunners are currently monitoring the progress of Kayode, but we don’t believe the club need another right-back for the first-team squad at the moment.

Ben White is presently an undisputed starter from the role while Takehiro Tomiyasu has provided valuable cover off the bench or from the starting XI when required.

The club also have Jurrien Timber, who has the ability to play anywhere in the backline.

The summer signing was one of the leading performers during pre-season but he unfortunately suffered a serious knee injury in the curtain raiser back in August.

The Dutchman will be sidelined for most of the campaign, but he will have an important role to play on his comeback. He is already a favourite among the fans.

In our view, the ongoing link with Kayode could be agent-driven to earn himself a new deal.

Earlier this year, the Gunners were also linked with a move for Ivan Fresneda but no approach was made. The teenager is currently contracted to Sporting Lisbon.
