Arsenal set to offer fierce competition to Milan to sign Benjamin Sesko
|Arsenal are set to offer fierce competition to AC Milan in the pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, according to Calciomercato.
The 20-year-old joined the Bundesliga outfit earlier this summer and he has made a good start with six goals from 13 appearances.
His form has caught the eye of AC Milan and it is reported that the marksman would be tempted by a move to the Serie A outfit.
However, a deal may not be easy to pull off as the Gunners are also interested in signing him and have a direct relationship with his camp.
Sesko’s valuation has more than doubled since his arrival at Leipzig and it is claimed that he would cost at least €45-50 million in future.
Sesko could be a leading striker in coming years
The Slovenian star is currently one of the most sought-after young strikers in European football.
Manchester United were interested in signing him last year, but he agreed to join RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 from sister club Red Bull Salzburg.
Sesko has made a good impression with six goals already to his name. His statistics should only get better as he improves his understanding with his teammates.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s pursuit of Sesko is not a surprise, considering they are still lagging behind due to the absence of a genuine goalscoring number nine.
Eddie Nketiah bagged a hat-trick against Sheffield United over the weekend, but the big question is whether he can replicate the same on the big stage.
Nketiah has notable performances such as his brace versus United, but doubts continue to linger over his consistency over a prolonged run of matches.
The same can be said for Gabriel Jesus. He is a scoring threat when in form, but the Brazilian has also gone through patches without finding the net.
Sesko would be a good long-term signing for the Gunners with his huge potential. He would provide a strong aerial presence up front which the club have been lacking.
In our view, a mid-season deal is unlikely on the cards with Leipzig having just signed him. The Gunners may have to wait until the summer to make an offer.
They should have the upper hand over AC Milan with their good association with the player’s representatives and the lure of the Premier League.
