Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale rejects approach from PL club
|Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has turned down an approach from a bottom-half Premier League club, according to football.london.
The Englishman has had a difficult start to the 2023/24 season with the Gunners and he is currently the back-up shot-stopper behind David Raya.
Ramsdale got a rare opportunity in goal against Brentford over the weekend and he was largely error-prone and lucky not to concede in the end.
It is now reported by football.london that a bottom-half Premier League club made an approach to Ramsdale but it was immediately rejected.
The former Sheffield United man continues to have a good relationship with Arsenal and is apparently prioritising a move which takes his career forward.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are not looking to part ways with Ramsdale in January and are likely to assess his future at the end of the current campaign.
The 25-year-old is reportedly valued at around £60 million. His situation has already been monitored by the likes of Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
Arsenal should wait until summer to make Ramsdale decision
Ramsdale was an undisputed starter in goal for the Gunners for two years before he was displaced by Raya following the September international break.
The decision to drop him by manager Mikel Arteta came out of the blue. The Spaniard talked about the prospect of rotating goalkeepers but nothing of that sort has happened.
It is quite clear that Raya is his number one going forward. Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed that the the Gunners are expected to trigger the buy clause after his loan stint.
Despite this, the Gunners are unlikely to consider Ramsdale’s exit at the midway stage of the season, given they are once again involved in the Premier League title race.
Any decision over Ramsdale’s future could be delayed until the summer unless any interested club is willing to pay the entire fee up during the January transfer window.
