Vinicius Junior and Leroy Sane react to Gabriel Jesus’ performance against RC Lens
|Arsenal strolled to a 6-0 win against RC Lens at Emirates Stadium last night to book a place in the round of 16 of the Champions League.
The Gunners found themselves 5-0 up in first-half before Jorginho bagged the only goal of the second half from the spot.
Gabriel Jesus continued his fine form in the Champions League by providing the assist for Kai Havertz’s opener before doubling Arsenal’s lead eight minutes later.
The Brazil international has now bagged four goals and two assists in four appearances in the competition this term, and he will be desperate to bring that form to the Premier League.
Jesus took to his Instagram to react after the match, and he got praises from Vinicius Junior and Leroy Sane in the comments section, with his international teammate telling him “joga muito”, which means “well played”.
The Brazil international striker has only scored once in eight league games this term, and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta needs him to step up if his side are to win the title.
The Gunners have finished as Group B leaders with a game to spare and will hope to get a favourable draw in the last-16.
They return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Jesus will be raring to go.
Arsenal cannot afford to drop points anytime soon having established themselves as league leaders after 13 games, and the Brazilian and other attackers need to start firing on all cylinders to boost their chances of winning the title.
The North Londoners have scored the least goals (27) out of the teams in the top-four and currently rank 6th in goals per game and 11th in open goals per game.
Arsenal are sixth in shots per game and 7th in expected goals per 90 minutes, and they need significant improvement in the final third if they want to go one better in the Premier League this season.
