Arsenal tracking Hajduk Split attacking midfielder Rokas Pukstas
|Arsenal are tracking Hajduk Split attacking midfielder Rokas Pukstas ahead of a potential transfer move, according to the Sun.
The 19-year-old has been dubbed the next Thomas Muller due to his style of play, and he was scouted by the Gunners at Hajduk’s game against HNK Gorica last Saturday.
Pukstas impressed in his side’s 3-0 victory, and it is believed Arsenal could be tempted to make him their next American signing.
Matt Turner and Auston Trusty left the North London club in the summer, but owner Stan Kroenke knows the marketing potential of having an American star on the books at Arsenal, and the United States under-20 international has been tipped to break into the senior national side soon.
Pukstas has established himself as a key player for Hajduk Split in recent seasons, making 35 appearances across the last two seasons and weighing in with seven goals.
Arsenal are unlikely to pursue the services of the American in January, but a summer move could be on the cards if he keeps on impressing their scouts.
However, Pukstas may be loaned out initially if he manages to seal a deal with the Gunners given the plethora of attacking options currently available to manager Mikel Arteta.
He has huge potential and could soon be playing for a top European side even if Arsenal opt against signing him next year.
Nevertheless, the youngster is one player to keep an eye on going forward as Arsenal are likely to keep him on their watchlist for as long as possible in order to pounce once they become convinced that he has what it takes to break into their first-team.
