Confirmed Arsenal line-up vs PSV Eindhoven, 8 changes
|Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made eight changes to the starting line-up for the Champions League group stage clash against PSV Eindhoven tonight.
The Gunners have already qualified for the round of 16 of the competition with the top spot in their group. Hence, there are no surprises that Arteta has decided to ring in the changes.
Only William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Kai Havertz have retained their places from the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend.
Aaron Ramsdale will make his Champions League debut today in goal with David Raya being rested for the congested schedule ahead in the top-flight.
In defence, Cedric Soares and Jakub Kiwior have got the nod over Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko in the right and left-back positions respectively.
Jorginho and Mohamed Elneny have come into midfield with Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard on the bench for today’s late kick-off in Eindhoven.
Further forward, Reiss Nelson and Leandro Trossard are set to feature in the wide positions with Eddie Nketiah leading the line ahead of Gabriel Jesus.
Saka and Jesus are on the substitutes’ bench but there is no place for Gabriel Martinelli, who has been ruled out of the game altogether with illness.
Confirmed Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1) vs PSV: Ramsdale; Cedric, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior; Jorginho, Elneny, Havertz; Nelson, Nketiah, Trossard.
Arsenal are already through to the last 16 with the first position, but they have something to play for. The north London club need to return to winning ways after the weekend’s defeat at Villa Park.
Ethan Nwaneri has garnered a lot of attention before the game after scoring five goals in the FA Cup Youth Cup against Crewe. It is left to be seen whether he makes his Champions League debut.
