Predicted Arsenal line-up vs Liverpool, Gabriel Jesus starts

Arsenal will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Liverpool in the FA Cup third round this evening.

The Gunners ended 2023 on a disappointing note with just one point from their final three league games. This included surprise defeats to West Ham United and Fulham.

Manager Mikel Arteta will want a strong response at the Emirates Stadium today. Ahead of the Cup tie, there could be a few changes from the 2-1 loss at Craven Cottage.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

Arteta refused to reveal his starting goalkeeper for the game but we anticipate Aaron Ramsdale to feature between the sticks. The Englishman has played second fiddle to David Raya since September. Two of his last four appearances were in the Carabao Cup. He could get the nod today.

In front of him, there could be a solitary change in the backline. Ben White, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are assured to start. Jakub Kiwior looks set to make way for Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back. He has recovered well from the calf injury which kept him out of the recent derby.

Arteta may want more defensive assurance in the centre of the park against the Reds. We anticipate Kai Havertz to make way for Jorginho to partner Declan Rice. The latter could be entrusted to play higher up the field when in possession, considering his strong distribution skills.

Further forward, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard are nailed-on starters on the right wing and number 10 roles respectively. Odegaard has created plenty of chances of his teammates over the past month but they have not been converted due to some poor finishing.

Gabriel Martinelli has not been playing at his best but still grabbed an assist last weekend. In our view, He is still likely to get the nod over Leandro Trossard, who has tended to struggle when starting games. Up front, it should be a straight swap with Gabriel Jesus replacing Eddie Nketiah.
