Leandro Trossard’s entourage have started exploratory talks with Everton
|The representatives of Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard have started exploratory talks with Everton, according to Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad (today’s edition).
The Gunners are currently interested in signing Toffees midfielder Amadou Onana and it has been reported that he could be available for around €60 million.
Mikel Arteta’s side could propose to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy, but Het Nieuwsblad have brought a fresh twist to the story by mentioning Trossard.
They claim that ‘Leandro Trossard’s team’ have begun ‘exploratory talks’ with Everton.
Trossard linked with surprise move away from Arsenal
Trossard joined the Gunners from Brighton & Hove Albion last winter. He had a splendid back end to the campaign with one goal and 10 assists in all competitions.
The 29-year-old has added another six goals and two assists this season, but the Belgian has not made any goal contribution for the club since November 11.
Trossard has been used sparingly from the starting line-up in recent months, but we would be surprised if the Gunners are contemplating his potential departure.
Het Nieuwsblad’s mention of Everton suggests that the club are exploring the prospect of using him as a makeweight to lower the final asking price for Onana.
Onana would be a quality acquisition with his strong defensive qualities from the number six role, but the fans won’t be pleased if a deal comes at the expense of Trossard.
The former Genk man has become a favourite among the faithful after his 19 goal involvements last year and his departure would reduce the attacking depth in the squad.
