Arsenal interested in signing Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey

Arsenal are interested in signing Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey this month, according to Turkish publication Sabah (page 15).

The Gunners have been following the 23-year-old for some time and it was recently reported that he could be available for €25 million.

Sabah have now provided a fresh update. The outlet claim that the Turkish champions are prepared to sell Boey for just €20m this winter.

Arsenal are credited with an interest in the Frenchman. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are mentioned too.

The Istanbul giants are ready to recall Leo Dubois from his loan spell at Istanbul Basaksehir if Boey leaves during the January transfer window.

Arsenal don’t need another right-back

The Gunners currently have Ben White as the regular starter from the right-back role, but there is plenty of competition for him at the moment.

Takehiro Tomiyasu is presently away from Asian Cup duty with Japan, but he should be available to play again during the first half of February.

Meanwhile, Jurrien Timber has already started working on the grass after his serious knee injury in August. He is braced to return in March.

Aside from the trio, the Gunners also have Thomas Partey and Cedric Soares in the squad to operate in the position in case of an injury crisis.

In our view, a new right-back is not a necessity for now. The Gunners could evaluate their stance on Boey in the summer if he stays at Galatasaray.

The north London giants should prioritise a new centre-forward and a central midfielder this month.

There are no clear-cut targets but the Gunners have been linked with Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee and Everton’s Amadou Onana in recent days.
