Arsenal have brilliant chance to sign perfect midfield partner for Declan Rice

Arsenal have been handed a brilliant chance to sign midfielder Amadou Onana with the Toffees being charged for breaching Financial Fair Play limits for the second time this season.

The Merseyside outfit have already been deducted 10 points this campaign for failing to meet the profit and sustainability rules over a three-year period.

As a result, they are currently just one point ahead of the drop zone. Another points deduction this term could put them under serious relegation threat.

This could directly benefit the Gunners in their pursuit of Onana. The Gunners are known to have already spoken to his representative over a winter deal.

With the uncertainty at the Toffees, the midfielder could be convinced to join in the current transfer window if the Gunners can make the right proposal.

Arsenal were previously reported to be considering a loan deal with an obligation to buy for £52 million, but they may need to make a cash offer to persuade cash-strapped Everton.

Onana would be a perfect partner for Declan Rice

Rice started off his Arsenal career in a central midfield position, but he has returned to the number six role over the last few months with Thomas Partey’s injury woes.

Partey has been unreliable with his fitness for a major part of his Gunners career and we won’t be surprised if the club consider selling him at the end of the season.

In our view, Onana could be seen as an ideal successor to Partey. If the Belgian is signed this month, he could form a perfect partnership with Rice in the centre of the park.

Onana has developed into one of the league’s best midfielders. He has been brilliant defensively with 7.1 duels and 2.6 tackles won per game this term alongside 6.6 ball recoveries.

The Belgian has won 70 per cent of his aerial challenges which is hugely impressive. He has also caught the eye with his physicality and tireless work rate from the holding midfield spot.

We believe he would be a perfect partner for Rice. The latter could be handed the chance to express himself in a central role, making more goal contributions for the Gunners.
