Arsenal ready to splash the cash again having been alerted to Michael Olise’s new release clause ahead of potential summer move
|Arsenal splashed the cash in the last summer transfer window, spending an initial £100 million on Declan Rice and £65m on Kai Havertz, and it appears they are willing to do so again next summer.
According to talkSPORT, the Gunners have been alerted to a release clause in Michael Olise’s freshly-signed new contract at Crystal Palace, which is believed to be well in excess of £50m.
The 22-year-old attacker was close to joining Chelsea in the summer after they triggered the £35m release clause in his previous Palace contract.
Olise is now attracting more suitors ahead of next summer, and the Gunners are keen on recruiting his services.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen his attack and give the likes of Gabriel Martinelli much-needed competition, and the Frenchman fits the bill.
The Palace star has weighed in with five goals and an assist in just nine Premier League appearances this term, and he will be desperate to prove himself when they visit Emirates Stadium to face the Gunners later on Saturday.
Olise caught the eyes of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola when both clubs met in March 2023, and, unsurprisingly, Arteta desires to recruit the services of the winger.
“They have weapons. [Wilfried] Zaha is there, [Michael] Olise, [Eberechi] Eze, they are incredible strikers and they have incredible threat,” Guardiola said concerning the Palace trio at the time.
“They have composure, great attacking players.”
While he can play anywhere across the forward positions, the former Reading star is also solid defensively, and it is a quality Arteta loves in his players.
Olise is also the complete attacker as he can deliver the perfect crosses and set-pieces, which makes him a huge threat when it comes to direct free-kicks.
He is also a brilliant dribbler and holds on to the ball comfortably well, making dispossessing him almost impossible, and Arsenal will be landing a top player if they go ahead and sign him.
