Declan Rice & Ian Wright react to Gabriel Magalhaes’ performance vs Crystal Palace

Declan Rice and Ian Wright were impressed by Gabriel Magalhaes’ man of the match performance against Crystal Palace in the Premier League yesterday.

The Gunners returned to winning ways with a comfortable 5-0 win in the derby. Gabriel opened the scoring with a towering header at the back post in the 11th minute.

The Brazilian helped the club double their advantage before the break. His attempted effort on goal took a deflection off goalkeeper Dean Henderson to find the back of the net.

Aside from his goal and assist, Gabriel also completed 88 per cent of his passes, winning eight duels and making five clearances. He also completed five long balls and won three fouls.

It was a brilliant all-round performance from the 26-year-old. After the game, Rice and Wright were quick to praise Gabriel on Instagram after he posted a picture with the player of the match award.

Rice described him as a ‘monster’ after his stand-out showing in the London derby at the Emirates Stadium while Wright expressed his delight with several heart emojis.

The €60 million-rated star had a difficult start to the current campaign. He found himself on the bench amid regular speculation that he could make the switch to Saudi Arabia.

He responded brilliantly in his return to the starting XI against Manchester United in early September and has since been an undisputed starter alongside William Saliba in the league.

Gabriel has made three goal contributions in the space of one month and the fans will be hoping that he can have more involvements from set-pieces for the rest of the campaign.
