FFP issues preventing Arsenal from signing Everton midfielder Amadou Onana this month

The Financial Fair Play issues of Arsenal are currently delaying their chances of bringing the deal to sign Everton midfielder Amadou Onana to a successful conclusion, according to reliable Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
However, a last-minute sale cannot be ruled out as we head into the final week of the January transfer window.
Onana is keen on moving to Arsenal as he wants to remain in the Premier League should he leave Everton, and talks have been ongoing between both clubs since the beginning of this month.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen his options in the middle of the park heading into the second-half of 2023-24, and the Belgium international is a solid option.
Thomas Partey has struggled with injuries and could be sold at the end of the season, and the futures of Jorginho and Mohamed Elneny at the North London club are also uncertain.
Onana has proven himself at the Goodison Park club as one of the best and finest midfielders in the land, and he has everything it takes to improve the Gunners.
However, Arsenal spent over £200 million on the acquisition of Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice in the summer, and they were forced to bring in Spain international goalkeeper David Raya on loan from Brentford so as not to break Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
They are expected to trigger the option to buy the Spaniard for £27m in the summer, and they may need to do a similar deal with the Toffees.
Whether Everton will be open to that option remains to be seen as they desperately need to balance the books.
The Merseyside club have been docked ten points following a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules and could still be dealt further blows as they are currently being investigated for other breaches, so selling Onana this month might be the only option they have to keep themselves away from further troubles.
