Gabriel Jesus shines for Arsenal in 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest

Arsenal registered back-to-back wins in the Premier League following an impressive performance against Nottingham Forest on the road on Tuesday.

The Gunners dominated the proceedings in the opening half at City Ground, but they lacked the cutting edge to find the back of the net.

The second half started in a similar fashion with Jesus hitting the woodwork as well as missing the target with a difficult chance in the six-yard box.

However, the club eventually broke the deadlock after some quick thinking from Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Zinchenko’s early throw into the box was picked up by Jesus, who opened the scoring from a tight angle through the legs of goalkeeper Matt Turner.

Seven minutes later, Jesus turned provided for Bukayo Saka’s counter-attacking goal.

Martin Odegaard played a lovely pass into the Brazilian’s path, who managed to square the ball for Saka. The Englishman unleashed a low right-footed shot.

Arsenal had a nervous finish to the game after Taiwo Awoniyi’s 89th minute goal for Forest, but it was a well deserved victory in the end for their dominance.

Jesus was undoubtedly the man of the match in our opinion. He had 64 touches with 25 passes.

The 26-year-old won seven duels, three take-ons alongside two vital goal contributions.

The £45 million signing looked back to his best and the Gunners will need him in good form if they want to compete for silverware in the coming months.

Arsenal have reduced the deficit to leaders Liverpool to two points with the victory. The Reds have a game in hand against Chelsea. They have not beaten for a while in the league.

They will be the Gunners’ next opponents at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Mikel Arteta’s side should be fired up for the challenge coming their way.

The club created many chances in the first half of the FA Cup fourth round tie against Liverpool earlier this month, but their poor finishing cost them dearly.
