Ben White was an unsung hero for Arsenal in Liverpool win

Arsenal defender Ben White was one of the best performers during the 3-1 Premier League win over Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Gunners went into the game on a two-match winning run. They dominated the proceedings in the opening half and were unlucky to go into the break level.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring for the London giants. They were on course for a deserved half-time lead before a William Saliba error led to Gabriel’s own goal.

Liverpool started the second half brightly, but Arsenal got back into the lead after the Reds made a blunder of their own.

A misunderstanding between Virgil van Dijk and Alisson gifted Gabriel Martinelli with the chance to score into an empty net.

Leandro Trossard put the game beyond doubt in stoppage time. A slight deflection saw the ball go between the legs of Alisson.

Jorginho and Declan Rice got the plaudits for their midfield displays after the game, but in our view, White was an unsung hero.

The €55 million-rated star won eight out of his nine duels attempted. He won 100 per cent of his aerial duels against the leaders.

He also completed 100 per cent of his take-ons (2/2) alongside three clearances, two interceptions, one tackle and blocked two shots.

White had to be extra cautious after getting booked for delaying a throw-in in the first half and he showed terrific composure.

Arsenal win over Jurgen Klopp’s side has reduced the deficit to the top to two points and they are definitely back in the title race.

The club now need to deliver similar performances in the next two away trips to West Ham United and Burnley to pile the pressure.
