Ian Wright reacts to Jamie Carragher’s comments after Arsenal’s win vs Liverpool

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has hit out at Jamie Carragher following his comments after the club’s 3-1 Premier League win over Liverpool on Sunday evening.

The Gunners made it three league wins on the bounce after a fine performance against the Reds. They dominated the proceedings with seven shots on target compared to Liverpool’s one.

Jurgen Klopp’s side never looked like scoring in the game. Their only goal came via a defensive mishap from the Gunners which contributed to Gabriel Magalhaes’ unfortunate own goal.

Following the victory, the Gunners celebrated the result with the fans. Martin Odegaard also had a fond moment with the club’s long-time photographer Stuart MacFarlane.

The Norwegian took a picture of MacFarlane which did not go well with Carragher. He did not like the antics and said that Arsenal players should have gone into the tunnel.

In response, Wright has hit out with a social media post where he highlighted the criticism towards Odegaard taking a picture of MacFarlane. He added to question the unwarranted reaction from pundits.

“Why’s everybody trying to kill the joy? Don’t kill the joy! As soon as Arsenal do anything, they just come on & pile on. Don’t let them spoil the joy,” He said in the video.

Liverpool had the opportunity to go eight points clear at the top of the table with a win. This would have dented the Gunners’ prospects of challenging for the title.

However, it was not the case. The Reds were never in the game, barring a few minutes after the half-time interval. Arsenal deserved to pick up the victory in the end.

The Gunners have now moved within two points off Jurgen Klopp’s side for the top spot and we are not surprised that Carragher was pissed off by the celebrations.

Arsenal have every right to celebrate a win in front of their fans. As Wright said, some football pundits should mind their own teams instead of concentrating on Arsenal.

Rio Ferdinand also was critical of the Gunners and Mikel Arteta and said that they were ‘deluded‘. He needs to focus on United who may not even make the top four.
