Arsenal tracking Besiktas wonderkid Semih Kilicsoy
|Arsenal are one of the European clubs that are tracking Besiktas wonderkid Semih Kilicsoy ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Turkish publication Sabah.
The 18-year-old forward has had a fantastic breakthrough season with the Turkish giants, scoring eight goals and providing one assist from 19 appearances across all competitions.
Out of that tally, seven goals and one assist have come in his last seven outings, and there are no surprises that he is on the radar of several elite European teams.
Sabah (page 19) report that the Gunners, Borussia Dortmund, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid and Juventus are all interested in signing the forward, who can play out wide or up front.
Dortmund have been monitoring Kilicsoy in every game this season, but other clubs including the Gunners have also assigned scout teams to keep tabs on the young attacker.
Arsenal could be impressed by Kilicsoy’s versatility
The Istanbul-born ace has the ability to play on the left wing, right wing or as the main striker. He has been most successful on the left flank, but recently scored a brace playing up front.
Kilicsoy has impressed with his long-range shooting this term with two goals from outside the box. He has also caught the eye with his dribbling skills, but still needs to improve his link-up play.
Arsenal currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka as their preferred wingers and this may not change any time soon. However, there is a possibility of reinforcing the back-up options.
Leandro Trossard has fared well from the left wing off the bench, but Reiss Nelson has yet to do the same from the other flank. Kilicsoy could be seen as a potential target if Nelson were to leave.
With the likes of Dortmund in the mix, it won’t be easy to pursue his services. He won’t come on the cheap either with Besiktas eyeing at least €25m to part ways with their valuable asset.
