Arsenal in advanced stages over new deal for Ben White

Arsenal are in advanced stages of negotiations over a new long-term contract for defender Ben White, according to The Telegraph.

The right-back has been a key player for the Gunners over the past few years. He has already made 33 appearances in all competitions this term.

The Gunners are determined to keep him at the club for many seasons to come and The Telegraph claim that a renewal is on the cusp of completion.

White remains one of Arsenal’s most valuable players

White has managed only three goal contributions this term, but he has looked refreshed since the club’s return from the winter training break in Dubai.

The Englishman was carrying a knee problem during the first part of the campaign and he looks to have recovered from the same since the restart.

Arsenal registered a stunning 6-0 win at West Ham United last weekend. White was spotted playing in the ‘Zinchenko’ role as he moved into midfield.

Jakub Kiwior has been more composed with his defending than his ball-playing ability at left-back and this probably led to the switch from the manager.

White prospered from the role and also freed up Bukayo Saka with his presence. The Hammers defence could not double up regularly on the winger like in the past.

The £47 million-rated star had 81 touches and completed 64 out of his 66 passes with an accuracy of 97 per cent. He also won foul duels and two tackles for his team.

We could see more of the same in the coming games if Oleksandr Zinchenko remains sidelined.

It appears only a matter of time before White puts pen-to-paper on a renewal. He is currently contracted until June 2026 but he is only the 11th highest earner.

The right-back earns £120,000-a-week. A new deal could increase his wages close to £200,000 weekly – the same bracket as Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.
