Arsenal are closely monitoring Kylian Mbappe situation, Mikel Arteta wants talks with the PSG star
|Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation of Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Les Bons Conceil Du Sports editor Seb Ecrivain Foot.
The Frenchman will leave the Ligue 1 club as a free agent at the end of the current campaign, and while he is expected to join Real Madrid, other suitors are expected to emerge for his services.
Seb Ecrivain Foot claims Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants his club to open talks with Mbappe, and the Gunners will try and make a move for him if they believe they have a chance.
The 25-year-old is arguably the best footballer in Europe right now, and while some have claimed his domestic heroics are as a result of the quality of Ligue 1, he has 44 goals and 26 assists in 68 Champions League games.
Arsenal could do with such a player right now, and landing Mbappe will surely make them huge favourites to win the Premier League next season.
However, they simply cannot afford the finances needed to land the services of the France international.
While he will cost nothing in transfer fees, Mbappe will be demanding a huge signing-on fee and wages.
The PSG star earns over £800,000 per week, and Arsenal do not have the wherewithal to recruit the services of such an earner.
Arteta told journalists today that Arsenal should be “in the conversation” for such a player, stressing that his side are going to need the best talent and the best players to become the best team.
The Spaniard also claimed “everybody wants to play for Arsenal”, and while the Gunners have a rich history and are one of the biggest clubs on the planet, it is realistically hard to see Mbappe agreeing to join them ahead of star-studded Madrid.
