Martin Odegaard stars for Arsenal in Burnley rout
|Arsenal continued their fantastic run of form on Saturday with a convincing 5-0 Premier League win over Burnley on the road.
The Gunners went into the game on a four-match winning league streak where they had scored an impressive 16 goals.
They continued the momentum with a resounding 5-0 victory at Turf Moor. Martin Odegaard opened the scoring after just four minutes from the edge of the box.
A penalty from Bukayo Saka made it 2-0 before the interval. Shortly after the break, Saka bagged his second goal of the day with a sublime right-footed strike.
Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz completed the scoring for the Gunners and ensured that the club won a fifth straight league game following the turn of the year.
There were plenty of stand-out performers against the Clarets but in our opinion, Odegaard was once again the best of the lot with a superb all-round display.
The Norwegian not only scored, but also assisted Saka’s second goal. Aside from his goal contributions, Odegaard had 88 touches and 61 passes over 90 minutes.
He completed 100 per cent of his crosses and won 100 per cent of his take-ons and aerial duels. The playmaker created three chances in the convincing win.
The 25-year-old has now registered one goal and three assists from his last two outings. He is definitely peaking at the right time which should only benefit Arsenal.
The Gunners travel to the Estadio do Dragao for the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie against Porto on Wednesday. Odegaard will be aiming to keep his good form going.
