Arsene Wenger believes Bukayo Saka is a world-class player and one of the three best English players

Arsenal next five fixtures with Champions League football on the horizon

Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka recently had his credentials questioned by Rio Ferdinand, with the former Manchester United defender insisting the Gunners star is not a world-class player yet.

However, Arsene Wenger does not agree with the Red Devils legend, insisting the 22-year-old is already world-class and one of the best English players on the planet right now.

Saka has 15 goals and 11 assists in 30 appearances across the Premier League and Champions League this term and has remained his brilliant self, and it is hard to argue against the numbers.

“He is top level. He is top level because he is the type of player who makes differences at that level of game and has a great future,” Wenger said on beinSports.

“He is a top person as well. Humble, wants to learn, wants to work, so his career will now be decided by how much he wants to continue to improve, but he is certainly one of the three best English players.

“I would say he is world-class.”

With 53 goals and 53 assists to his name in 212 appearances for Arsenal, Saka is without a doubt a force to reckon with and he has the potential to grow into the best player on the planet.

Unfortunately, he could not inspire the Gunners last night as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to FC Porto in the first-leg of their Champions League last-16 fixtures.

Ferdinand claimed Saka is yet to step up on the biggest stage and the Gunners star will be desperate to prove him wrong.

Porto will visit Emirates Stadium on March 12 for the return leg and the England international has to be on top of his game if Arsenal are to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2009-10.
