Arsenal midfielder’s agent reveals five possible destinations this summer

The agent of Jorginho has talked up the possibility of the midfielder returning to Serie A this summer.

The Italy international joined Arsenal from London rivals Chelsea for £12 million last year. He has been a quality acquisition with a number of stand-out performances.

The 32-year-old starred in the 3-1 win over Liverpool earlier this month. He delivered another fantastic display against Newcastle United. He was the man of the match in both games.

Despite this, there has been constant speculation over his future through his agent Joao Santos.

Speaking to Calciomercato.it via Eleonora Trotta, Santos said that he can see Jorginho fitting in well at Lazio where he could reunite with his former boss Maurizio Sarri.

He added that Juventus and Napoli are also good destinations for his client while moves to Inter Milan and AC Milan can’t be ruled out as they are ‘two great clubs’.

He said: “I can see him fitting in well at Lazio with Mister Sarri or at Juventus with the great director [Cristiano] Giuntoli, but also at Napoli with Calzona. Inter and AC Milan are two great clubs. Roma has never been an option.”

Santos concluded by saying that Arsenal will have the final say on the midfielder’s future. He further said: “Arsenal have priority. In any case, we want the right club for him.”

Arsenal could part ways with Jorginho this summer

The Gunners currently have Declan Rice and Kai Havertz as the regular midfield duo, but manager Mikel Arteta has picked Jorginho occasionally in the XI to add defensive stability.

The Italian has benefited from the long injury absence of Thomas Partey. The Ghanaian ace has played just five games this term, but he is currently back in full training after injury.

In the summer, Arsenal could have a big decision to make over the duo. There is a high possibility that Partey could be sold with his contract expiring next year, considering his injuries.

Meanwhile, the club have the option to extend Jorginho’s deal until June 2025. As things stand, they have not triggered the clause, but the hierarchy could exercise the option soon.

Jorginho, who was recently described by Rice as a ‘high quality‘ player, would be a good back-up player next term, but we won’t be surprised if Arsenal cash in on him for a fresh arrival.

Everton’s Amadou Onana and Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi are among names on the club’s radar.

With Albert Sambi Lokonga showing promise on loan at Luton Town, he could be considered as the deputy behind the new signing with Jorginho heading for the exit door.
