Arsenal want Ajax goalkeeper Diant Ramaj

Arsenal want to sign Ajax goalkeeper Diant Ramaj, according to Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk.

However, they are not the only Premier League club keen on the German, with Manchester United and Chelsea also interested in recruiting his services.

The Gunners are expected to lose England international goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale this summer after he lost his starting berth to David Raya.

As a result, they are preparing to sign another goalie, and Ramaj has emerged as a target.

The 22-year-old is very comfortable with the ball at his feet, which is why Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is likely to have been attracted to him.

Ajax 2 coach Dave Vos showered praise on him last October, and Ramaj has since gone on to establish himself as a key player for the first-team, making 23 appearances for the Eredivisie club so far this term.

“He has a beautiful kick, but I also think he is a very good goalkeeper all-round,” Vos said at the time.

“His kick is of course noticeable, but I like it when goalkeepers have courage and take away space from their goal. He dares to delay the ball, so that the opponent puts pressure and you look for the solution from there.”

His qualities are superb and Arsenal could do with another excellent ball-playing goalie within their ranks, but Ramaj is not likely to be open to playing second fiddle.

The former Germany youth international dreams of playing for the senior national team, and a move to where he is not guaranteed a starting berth will not do his chances any good.

Raya remains the first-choice at Arsenal for the time being, and the North London club may need to look elsewhere for the quality back-up goalkeeper they want.
