Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk still has admirers at Arsenal, according to The Athletic’s James McNicholas.
The Ukraine international was a top target for the Gunners at the start of 2023, but they were beaten to his signature by the Blues.
Mudryk has since struggled to impress with only four goals and five assists from 43 outings. He has started on the bench lately.
It is now reported that sporting director Edu and manager Mikel Arteta were utterly convinced of Mudryk’s talent at Shakhtar.
They believed that the 22-year-old could provide them with a flying third winger to complement Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.
Mudryk still has admirers at Arsenal who believe his audacious talent can still be unlocked.
However, the ship appears to have sailed as far as joining the Gunners is concerned.
Arsenal got a superior deal with Leandro Trossard
Mudryk signed for the Blues for an initial €70 million (£60m) in January last year. The Ukrainian has been disappointing with a goal contribution in every 208 minutes.
On the contrary, Leandro Trossard has been a revelation for the Gunners. He was signed for £21m from Brighton & Hove Albion shortly after they missed out on Mudryk.
The 29-year-old has been brilliant with 11 goals and 12 assists from 53 outings. The Belgian has managed a goal involvement in every 106 minutes for the club thus far.
Trossard does not possess the same pace as Mudryk, but he has become a firm favourite among the fans with his quick dribbling, chance creation and finishing skills.
Arsenal could pursue a new winger in the summer, but they are more likely to focus on reinforcing the right wing with Pedro Neto one of the top names on their radar.
